From an early age art has been my escape. I would spend my days deep in the woods in deep imaginative play or sitting still observing natures beauty. As I grew older I drew inspiration from vinyl record cover art, old books and national geographic magazines at my grandparents house. Once I entered high school Mr. Swafford became my art teacher. He showed me that a pile of cardboard boxes could be turned into something quite more with the play of light and shadow. I studied Fine Arts at Indiana University in South Bend and had many fantastic art instructors through the years. I would like to recognize Linda Crimson my 3 dimensional art professor. She was a local muralist and taught with a soft voice, a kind heart and firmly pushed us to dig deep within ourselves for our art. I hope that I can do for my students what my instructors have done for me.
